HBO Max is the new kid on the block among the big streamers, but, as an extension of the cable network, it’s produced some quality original programming right out of the gate. Shows like The White Lotus and Hacks (Jean Smart in everything, please) are already generating buzz and winning awards. Given the number of shows HBO Max has already produced, there are some great choices that might have, unlike The Flight Attendant, flown under your radar.
These shows are all HBO Max originals, which means they were either initially produced for and/or are currently distributed exclusively by the streamer, at least in North America. Because of the existence of the hyper-mega-conglomerate that is WarnerMedia, that can get a little complicated, and shows get shared around a bit. So, when calling something an “original,” I’m relying largely on HBO Max’s own definition.
