DeSantis uninjured in car crash while heading to event: Campaign

"We appreciate the prayers and well wishes," a spokesman said in a statement.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was in a car crash on Tuesday morning in Tennessee on the way to an event, his campaign said.

While a spokesman, Bryan Griffin, initially said DeSantis and his team were uninjured in the wreck, Chattanooga police later told ABC News that one female staffer received minor injuries but continued on to the next campaign stop to receive treatment there.

A campaign source says the staffer was "assessed by medical personnel on site and cleared to depart."

According to police, the crash occurred on Interstate 75 in the Chattanooga area. A police spokesperson said that as a motorcade was escorting DeSantis, traffic slowed and four of the vehicles in the motorcade hit each other.

No civilian vehicles were involved, police said, and DeSantis and his staff continued on to his campaign stop.
