Rejoice, at least partially vaccinated doughnut lovers, for Krispy Kreme is doubling down on their free doughnut program, giving away two doughnuts to anyone who has had at least one COVID-19 vaccination shot from Aug. 30 through Sept. 5.
That’s right, the “Show Your Heart” promotion will include a double serving of doughnuts—an Original Glazed and an Original Glazed Heart—and will hopefully encourage the unvaccinated to get at least one shot, if not both:
“Show Your Heart” is the latest offer by Krispy Kreme supporting the country’s effort to overcome the pandemic. Krispy Kreme in March became the first national brand to support those protecting themselves and others by getting vaccinated, offering a free Original Glazed doughnut – anytime, any day – to guests who show a valid COVID-19 vaccination card at any Krispy Kreme shop in the U.S. through 2021.
So far, Krispy Kreme has given away more than 2.5 million Original Glazed doughnuts via the initiative. In 2020, Krispy Kreme gave away more than 30 million free doughnuts to healthcare workers, teachers, graduating seniors and others.
“We all hoped we’d be near the end of this pandemic by now. We’re not. So, please consider getting vaccinated if you’ve not done so already. And then enjoy and share two amazing doughnuts with our heart-felt thanks,” said Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer.
All you have to do is show your vaccination card, and you will be granted two whole glazed doughnuts (the best kind of doughnut). Come back the next day with your card, and you will receive another two doughnuts! Repeat this each day between Aug. 30 and Sept. 5, and you can enjoy a total of 14 free doughnuts. (The doughnuts don’t completely dry up after Sept. 5—you can still get one free doughnut every day by showing your vaccine card through the end of the year.)
I’m not sure if free doughnuts is enough to convince die-hard anti-vaxxers but, if nothing else, it’s a nice reward for those who did our civic duty and got the jab. Eating two doughnuts every day for a week may not be the most healthful habit, but keep in mind that Krispy Kreme is presenting this as an option, not a mandate, and refrain from clogging up the comments section with half-hearted, tired, and boring concern trolling. Don’t look a gift doughnut in the hole, is what I’m saying.
G/O Media may get a commission
(And don’t forget to tip. The doughnuts may be free, but the workers who make them still deserve a little gratuity and gratitude, especially during a pandemic.)
