While renting an electric vehicle for a road trip has some clear benefits, like saving money on gas, there are also some complications that may take time getting used to—like having to plan a route around charging stations.
Whether you’re an old pro at renting electric vehicles, or want to give it a whirl, you may want to consider booking one now, while Hertz is offering a free extra day on some rentals. Here’s what to know.
How to get a free extra day renting an electric vehicle at Hertz
So what, exactly, does this promotion entail? In short, if you rent an electric vehicle from a Hertz location in North America for two or more days, you can get one free rental day, according to Upgraded Points, where we first spotted the deal.
Before anything else, we should note that you need to book and start your trip by September 6, 2023 in order to take advantage of this promotion.
To do that, book online via the Hertz website. On the left side of the search tool, click on “Add a Discount Code” (the text is blue), and then in the second box from the top—labeled Promotion Coupon (PC)—enter 211174, then click “apply.”
The rentals must be for a minimum of two days and a maximum of 28 days, and the offer is subject to availability at participating Hertz locations in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. There are also other terms and conditions that you should check out before booking.
Also, the team at The Points Guy did a few test bookings using the code, and noted that a few major U.S. airports—including Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Portland International Airport (PDX)—didn’t have rentals available through this promotion. If you happen to run into the same problem, you may have to play around with different Hertz locations in your area to find one that offers the deal.
