Over time, normal wear-and-tear on kitchen appliances starts to take its toll, leaving our once-pristine ovens, dishwashers, and refrigerators with dings, dents, and scratches. Take that glass window on your oven door, for example. In addition to being covered in all types of food stains, they also have a tendency to accumulate scratches over the years.
Fortunately, there are a few ways to remove scratches from the glass on your oven door. Here’s what to know.
How to get rid of scratches on your oven door
First, we should clarify that we’re only dealing with shallow surface scratches here: If the scratch is deep enough for you to be able to stick a fingernail into it, it’s going to need a bit more attention (likely from a professional). But if you’re dealing with minor scratches, the idea behind these techniques is to buff them away using something that’s mildly abrasive and a soft cloth. Here are a few examples:
Baking soda
Mix up a paste of baking soda and water using a 1:1 ratio. Dip a cotton ball into the paste, then rub it onto the scratches in a circular motion for a few seconds. Wipe the surface with a clean, soft cloth dampened with warm water. If the scratches are still there, try it again.

Toothpaste
Instead of making your own paste, you can also use toothpaste (not the gel kind) to try to buff out scratches from your oven door, using the technique described above.
Brasso
As it turns out, this highly effective brass cleaner can also help fill in shallow scratches. First, make sure that your oven door is clean. Then put a small amount of Brasso brass polish on a clean, soft cloth and rub it in circular motion over the glass to buff out the scratches. Finally, wipe away any excess polish.
