Plenty of updates have come and gone in Minecraft’s nearly 15-year history, but players have never had cherry blossoms. Minecraft is about to get pink, and you can try it right now.

As part of the upcoming Minecraft 1.20 update, Mojang has added a new cherry blossom biome to the world. This biome spawns—you guessed it—cherry blossom trees throughout the area, adding splashes of pink as far as your render distance can process. According to the official announcement, cherry blossoms will attract pigs, sheep, and bees alike, so you’ll see these animals most in these biomes.

What can you build with Minecraft’s cherry blossoms?

Cherry trees can be chopped down and crafted into wood sets. You’ll also find cherry tree saplings scattered throughout the biome you can plunk and plant anywhere you like. Other than that, they’re just pink trees. Not the world’s biggest change to Minecraft, but hey, who doesn’t like an aesthetic upgrade?

What’s new with Minecraft 1.20?

Cherry blossoms are just one element that’s new with the upcoming Minecraft update. You’ll also be able to create bamboo wood sets, make hanging signs, and create chiseled bookshelves. There are even camels now, which you can tempt, breed, and saddle. Speaking of which, because the camels are so large, they actually fit two at a time, meaning you and a friend can ride a camel around the world together.

How to try Minecraft’s cherry blossoms early

The instructions for testing out new Minecraft features differs depending on the device you’re using. Minecraft testing is available on iOS, Android, Mac, Linux, and Windows 10 and 11, in both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. Lucky for us, Mojang has detailed instructions for each platform on its website.

Just remember: As with all software previews, these features aren’t finished yet, so by testing them early, you run the risk of experiencing bugs and other performance issues. Plus, you can’t access Realms or Featured Servers, and will only be able to play with other players who are using the same version as you.
