Considering this is basically all my son has wanted over the past two years, I am not surprised that for this age range, he adamantly suggests you opt for a LEGO set.
If you know what the kiddo is into, you can choose a set based on their interests and/or which sets they don’t already have. If you’re taking a total shot in the dark, he thinks you can’t go wrong with LEGO Star Wars. And, specifically, choose a cool-looking ship, such as this reasonably priced Resistance A-Wing Starfighter from The Rise of Skywalker.
“Ships are a big-time thing,” my kid says, “because kids like to have pretend space battles by using their imagination. And they can even switch up how they play; they don’t have to play with it just as a Star Wars things. They could use it for any space battle that isn’t really about Star Wars at all.”
