The suspect, also a student, was taken into custody, police said.
A student has died following a stabbing at Harding High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota, according to local police.
The student was only identified by police as a 15-year-old boy, Saint Paul police Sgt. Mike Ernster said at a news conference.

A weapon, believed to be a fixed-blade knife, was recovered, Ernster said.
This also marked the first homicide of the year in Saint Paul, he said.
The stabbing happened just before noon local time and the school immediately went into a lockdown. Students were then dismissed early at about 1:20 p.m., the school district said.
"As the dad of a St. Paul student, I’m heartbroken for the Harding High School community and the family of a student who lost their life today," Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said on Twitter. "We have offered our full support and have been assured that the area is now secure."
"I’m heartbroken to learn that a young life was taken today in a stabbing at Harding High School in Saint Paul," Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan added. "Saint Paul, our state grieves with you. We’re ready to support the students and faculty of the Harding community."
