“Plan ahead” is typically your best piece of advice for ensuring a successful trip to Walt Disney World, but sometimes waiting until the last minute pays off. To the tune of $150 per person, to be exact. If you’re dreaming of a Disney World trip this summer but can’t make the budget work, maybe this will help (a little anyway—shit’s still expensive): Disney will soon be offering a discount to those able to spring for four-day, four-park Magic Tickets. You can save hundreds by waiting for them to go on sale on May 23.
Disney’s previous CEO, Bob Iger, returned to the company late last year with promises to roll back many of the unpopular changes made by his successor/predecessor, Bob Chapek, that raised the price of a Disney vacation from merely extravagant to borderline ludicrous.
How to save on Disney World four-park Magic Tickets
The four-park Magic Tickets allow you to visit all four Walt Disney World parks, one park per day, for trips taken from June 1 to Sept. 29. Starting May 23, the tickets will go on sale for $396, a discount from their high season price of $548.41 (both prices exclude taxes). That works out to about $99 per person, per day. (For comparisons’s sake, a single-day pass to a single Disney park will run you around $150–$165, depending on when you go.)
The four-park Magic Ticket allows you to visit Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, one park per day. (You can’t travel between parks—for that you need a park-hopper pass, which costs extra.)
The fine print
As noted, the bundle limits you to visit one park per day, and you can only visit each park once. The good news is that you will not need to make reservations before your visit.
Starting May 23, you’ll be able to buy discounted tickets valid between June 1 and Sept. 29—barring holiday weekends (July 1–4 and Sept. 1–4). The tickets expire seven days after their first use, or by Sept. 29, 2023 if you don’t use them at all. The tickets are nonrefundable. You can read more about the offer here.
