On the inside, the iPad runs on the Apple A7 chip and should perform at the level of its original 2013 model year. While it won’t feel like a brand new iPad and cannot support an operating system upgrade beyond iPadOS 12.5.6, this should still be a capable alternative for someone mostly interested in scrolling social media or streaming movies. Even a decade on, the 7.9-inch Retina display creates clear, crisp text and images, and the battery can last up to 10 hours.
