Use Your FSA Money to Donate Street Medic Supplies

If you tend to have cash lingering in your medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA) at the end of the year, you don’t have to wait until December to start spending it. You can use it to buy first aid supplies now, and consider donating them to groups that organize medical support for protesters.

Before buying supplies, check with the group you’d like to donate them to. There is a list of street medic organizations here, organized by location. If you can’t find a medic group specifically, reach out to community and activist groups that have a presence at protests; they may be able to help you find the right people to talk to.

Ask your local organizers whether they are collecting supplies, and what they need. Some medic groups, like North Star Health Collective in Minneapolis, are already flush with donations and would prefer that you help in other ways.

Besides donating to a street medic group, you can also buy supplies for your own first aid kit or to share with friends. If you can’t join a protest but want to support those who do, consider passing out kits of first aid supplies along with water and snacks.
