What's New on Paramount+ in April 2023

I’m not surprised Paramount+ is launching a Grease TV series. I’m just surprised it hadn’t happened already. Glee premiered nearly 15 years ago; how has it taken this long to revive the OG story of peppy kids singing about their high school troubles?

As opposed to merely translating the stage show/movie to the small screen and stretching out the plotlines, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies (April 6) is going about things in a more sideways manner with an ostensible prequel exploring the origins of the titular girl gang, which seems to have been reworked to be more inclusive and celebratory rather than delinquent. Call it “Woke Grease,” because if you don’t, some Florida newspaper columnist soon will.

Speaking of reboots, we’re also getting a series-length update of Fatal Attraction (April 30), that paragon of highbrow ‘80s sleaze, with Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan subbing in for Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Personally, I’m hoping for a smarter, gender-flipped You.
