The supernatural mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows follows the misadventures of four vampire roommates living in Staten Island, New York. The laughs come from just how out of touch they are with the modern world, and how their human companion begrudgingly helps them navigate. The show is based a 2014 New Zealand mockumentary horror film of the same name, which was directed and written by Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi.
For those who don’t remember, Season 4 saw Guillermo fed up with waiting for Nandor to turn him into a vampire after his many years of service, so he sought the help of a friend to turn him into one instead. Season 5 deals with the weight of Guillermo’s decision after discovering that what he did is the highest offense a familiar can commit against their vampire master.
