There were no threats to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on the recently security lapse in the state, during an interview to NDTV.
"This is a conspiracy to defame Punjab," he said.
"The maximum number of people in the freedom struggle have been from Punjab. It it, therefore, wrong to accuse Punjab and Punjabis of such acts," said the chief minister.
On allegations that there threat to the PM's life, Mr Channi said, "These are baseless statements, being made as an attempt to defame Punjab and destabilise the state."
