If you watched game one of the NBA Finals on Thursday, you will have seen more than just the Boston Celtics take an early series lead against the Golden State Warriors. The fast-casual chain restaurant Chipotle Mexican Grille partnered with the National Basketball Association to give away 10,000 burritos via a buy one, get one free coupon. If you were too caught up in the action to catch this promotion fret not; you’ll have four more opportunities to cash in on this free meal so long as you keep your eyes peeled.
How the promotion works
Chipotle is hiding unique keywords in their advertisements that unlock 10,000 buy one, get one free coupons for each of the first five games of the NBA Finals. Once you see the code, you need to text it to 888222 as quickly as you can, otherwise all of the codes will get claimed. You will get a confirmation text if you qualified in time, with instructions on how to claim your burrito.
For what it’s worth, this code is not obvious. I mean it when I say if you blink, you’ll miss it. Here’s an example of what the code looked like last year when they ran a similar promotion.

Additionally, you will need to either download, or already have downloaded, the Chipotle app to cash in on your coupon. I know we all have mixed feelings about downloading new apps, but for what it’s worth, Chipotle’s is one of the better ones for getting free stuff. You can only text the code once per game, but there’s no limit to how many games of which you can participate.
